Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig, PhD

Vice Chancellor, IUHT
Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig is a renowned molecular geneticist and a national award-winning scientist, serving as the Vice Chancellor of the Islamabad University of Health Sciences and Emerging Technologies (IUHT). With a PhD from the University of Glasgow and over 30 years of research leadership, he has published 130+ scientific papers and led critical advancements in genetic and biomedical science.
Dr. Baig has been honored with Hilal-e-Imtiaz and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, two of Pakistan’s highest civilian awards. His vision for IUHT is to combine academic excellence with vocational training and global readiness — making higher education accessible, practical, and transformative for all.
